The Oklahoma City Thunder took a huge 56-34 lead into the half in game 1 of their first round playoff matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
It looked like the Thunder would cruise to an easy victory and possibly even get rest for a few of their players, but the Grizzlies had other idea. The Grizzlies scored eight points in the third quarter before the Thunder could get on the board and rode that hot start to an absolutely dominating third quarter that saw the Grizzlies outscore the Thunder 31-13 and cut the lead to just four points heading into the fourth quarter.
The game could have been even closer if it wasn’t for a fantastic play by Thunder power forward Serge Ibaka. Trailing by six, Grizzlies’ point guard Mike Conley found guard Courtney Lee, who went up for a layup over Reggie Jackson of the Thunder, but Ibaka came across the lane and sent the shot into the bench.
