The Philadelphia Eagles made one of the biggest moves of the offseason when they released wide receiver DeSean Jackson. There were rumors of the team being upset by “potential gang ties” and plenty of reports that Jackson and head coach Chip Kelly just didn’t get along, but now that it is in the past Jackson can start the new phase of his career.
That doesn’t mean he won’t be looking for revenge or find extra motivation against the Eagles, however.
Jackson recently appeared on the Arsenio Hall show where he said he showed just how eager he will be to get back on the field against Philadelphia.
“Oh yeah, twice,” Jackson said of playing the Eagles this year, via CSNPhilly.com. “Two times, not once, twice. I’m sure those two games, there’s gonna be something special about those two games, for sure. I gotta definitely go up on that.”
Speaking of his release, Jackson still seems to be in shock that it ever happened.
“It was almost unreal, honestly. My agent called me because I missed the call from head coach, and I’m sitting there like, what’s the reason behind it, what’s going on? Somebody tell me,” Jackson said. “Basically, [Kelly] told me ‘I think it’s best for the team and I think it’s best for yourself [to part ways]. We’re gonna let you negotiate with 31 other teams.’ So I’m like ‘Are you sure?’ I asked him one more time, I asked him what’s the reason, he said that’s what it was. I’m like, let’s get it started, let’s get it going.”
We will get to see that “something special” on display twice this season and it will lead to some excitement, so it would be a shock if at least one of the Eagles-Redskins match ups was not listed in prime time when the NFL releases the 2014 regular season schedule later this week.
