Detroit Lions running back Mikel Leshoure missed the final two workouts, and it wasn’t because of an injury according to new head coach Jim Caldwell.

“He did have a personal issue, let’s put it that way,” Caldwell said Thursday afternoon, via MLive.com. “We knew he was gone and what was happening. We were well aware of it.”

That doesn’t generate a lot of insight into what is going on and what caused him to miss leaving the door open for a myriad of reasons. Maybe he isn’t pleased with his position on the depth chart, third at best, and wants a bigger role in the offense or the team to explore a trade. There were reports that the Lions were exploring trading Leshoure and he was open to the idea going back to last season. Leshoure was the team’s leading rusher in 2012 before they signed Reggie Bush.
