Fantasy Baseball: Dayan Viciedo a Week 5 must-add
By James Kim
Fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups for week 5.
Dayan Viciedo, White Sox, OF (33.7% in ESPN leagues).

In his last seven games, Viciedo has hit .500 (14-for-28), while scoring seven runs. While not hitting many home runs or walking very much, he’s been hitting a steady diet of singles and doubles.
He’s shown that he’s got 25-home run ability; hitting 25 in 2012, so don’t be surprised if he starts showing some pop in his bat. He’s hitting in the middle of a powerful White Sox lineup that’s tied for the major league lead in runs scored.
Ben Revere, Phillies, OF (66.8% in ESPN leagues).
If you need a guy that’s capable of 40-plus steals and a .300 average, Revere just might be your guy. In his last five games, he has 10 hits in 24 at bats, while scoring four runs and stealing three bases.
That’s about it though, since he has no power whatsoever (only 46-of -398 career hits have gone for extra bases). But considering how hot he is and his stolen base capabilities, he’d be a good pick up if you need batting average and stolen bases.
Tanner Roark, Nationals, SP (4.0% in ESPN leagues).
In his last three starts (22 IP), one of them being a complete game shutout, Roark has given up only three runs while striking out 18. His complete game shutout came against the offense deprived Padres, so you might want to take it with a grain of salt.
However, in his two starts prior, he only allowed three runs in 13 innings against the Angels and Marlins, two top 10 scoring teams. Roark has a career 1.98 ERA in 86.1 innings pitched, so he’ll probably continue to produce.
Pick him up quick since everyone else will try to pick him up as well.
Alfredo Simon, Red, SP (56.2% in ESPN leagues).
Simon, a converted reliever, has a 1.30 ERA in four starts this year. The last season Simon started a game was in 2011 for the Baltimore Orioles and he had a 4.90 ERA, so this start is a bit suspicious.
He’s not flashy (17 K in four starts), but he’s only allowed four runs in 27.2 IP, which is huge.
