2014 NFL Mock Draft: Todd McShay has Jadeveon Clowney No. 1 overall to Texans
By Jack Crosby
On Thursday evening, ESPN experts Todd McShay and Mel Kiper are holding their final mock draft in anticipation of next week’s actual NFL Draft, and McShay was up first live on national television. He has the Houston Texans taking Jadeveon Clowney number one overall.
Following the pick, McShay said that if he were the GM of the Houston Texans–Rick Smith–he would certainly field all of the offers that he could in regards to trading out of the spot, but ultimately passing up on the chance to put Clowney with defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel is too much to pass up.
As recently as today, Smith has stated that the Texans will listen to offers for that top overall slot, and the Atlanta Falcons are one team indeed interested in taking them up on such an offer, or at least seeing if they have the resources to.
We’ll see in one more week whether or not the team will put one of the best defensive ends coming out of college in a long time opposite the current best defensive end in the league in J.J. Watt.
