Majestic invites fans to buy and wear MLB jerseys
By Matt Fisher
It’s not uncommon for teams to ask their fans to wear shirts of all one team color to show support. Those are usually called “(color) Out” days. The Aggies have Maroon Outs, The Rockies have Purple Power, and so on and so forth.
Majestic Athletic is asking for fans to show their solidarity for their team by purchasing jerseys. That’s it. There’s no giveaway, no special jersey released for the day, and no particular reason they picked any of the days they did for the teams they did it for. The press release went up on MLB.com, stating that the Phillies will start the ‘celebration’ and will be followed by other teams.
"“Phillies Jersey Day presented by Majestic Athletic” encourages fans to proudly wear their Phillies jersey on Friday, May 2 to work, school or the home game that evening to celebrate their love for the sport and the hometown nine. Similar local celebrations are scheduled for the Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, Colorado Rockies, Houston Astros, and New York Yankees- teams that are kicking off this year’s inaugural hometown events. The New York Mets will host their own jersey day celebration at a home game on May 25."
The release continues to encourage fans to purchase jerseys from team pro shops and other affiliated stores that sell Majestic Athletic jerseys, before promoting the event as a social media endeavor.
