Things have been going swimmingly for the Brewers lately, even with stud right fielder Ryan Braun on the shelf with an oblique strain.

Despite all their success, the Brewers would certainly love to have Braun’s big bat back in the lineup. But it’s looking like they will have to make do without their slugger for a little while longer.

Braun’s oblique is still sore and it’s looking like he could be headed to the DL.

Manager Ron Roenicke indicated that a move will have to be made with Logan Schafer set to come off the DL himself on Saturday.

“We’ll see what happens with Ryan today and see how he does,” Roenicke told MLB.com before Friday’s game. “He’ll have to make a lot of progress to feel like we’re close to him playing, and if not then we need to do something.”

The plan would likely be for Braun to be placed on the DL retroactive to April 26, making him eligible to come off on May 12.

Braun was starting to heat up before the oblique strain put him on the shelf. His bat wasn’t only wrecking other teams’ pitchers, it was also wrecking his own teammates’ faces.
