Jason Kipnis, Hyun-jin Ryu to DL, Adam Eaton exits game.

The Cleveland Indians have placed 2B Jason Kipnis on the 15 day disabled list with a strained oblique muscle.  Jose Ramirez was called up from AAA Columbus in the corresponding roster move.  Kipnis suffered the injury on Tuesday, and will likely miss four to six weeks.

Mike Aviles will likely see a lot more at-bats with Kipnis out, and is worth picking up in moderate and deep leagues.  Elliot Johnson is a switch hitter, so he could see some starts against tough righties, but with his .133 batting average on the year, he is probably best left alone except in deeper AL-only leagues.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed RHP Hyun-jin Ryu on the 15 day disabled list with an inflamed right shoulder.  Ryu felt discomfort in his shoulder after being pummeled by the Rockies on Sunday.  Ryu gave up six runs on nine hits in five innings.  RHP Jose Dominguez was called up from AAA Albuquerque in the corresponding move.

The Dodgers also sent Paco Rodriguez down to AAA and called up Chone Figgins.  Figgins likely won’t see much playing time, but his versatility make him worth adding in NL-only leagues.  The Dodgers likely will not have to tinker with their rotation any since Clayton Kershaw is on track to start on Tuesday against the Nationals in Washington.

The Brewers placed RHP Jim Henderson on the disabled list with right shoulder inflammation.  He was torched for five runs in one inning against the Reds on Thursday, so this likely had something to do with it.  OF Caleb Gindl was called up in the corresponding roster move.

The Detroit Tigers are trying to shore up their bullpen by signing RHP Joel Hanrahan to a one year deal.  Hanrahan was the closer in Pittsburgh for a couple of years before injuries got the better of him.  Hanrahan had Tommy John surgery in May of 2012, and was released by the Red Sox later that year.  This will be his first journey back to the majors since the procedure.

The Houston Astros have signed LHP Tony Sipp.  Sipp will likely become the left handed specialist in the Astro bullpen, and could see saves if Josh Fields continues to struggle.  He might be worth picking up in holds leagues or AL-only leagues.

Gindl could see short term value, as he appears to be the likely person to man right field until Ryan Braun is healthy enough to play.  He can be picked up in deep mixed leagues and NL-only leagues for a few days.  He is hitting at a .448 clip over the last week at AAA Nashville at the time of his promotion.

Chicago White Sox OF Adam Eaton left last night’s game in the fourth inning with a hamstring injury.  The good news is that he did not aggravate the same hamstring that caused him to miss five games a week ago.  I kind of wonder if the White Sox won’t just put him on the DL to allow both legs to get back to 100 percent.
