MLB Trade Rumors: Oakland Athletics looking to acquire starting pitching
By Josh Hill
It hasn’t been a terrible season thus far for the Oakland Athletics but they aren’t yet the World Series contenders they could be. As is the case with most teams on the brink, the A’s are missing starting pitching but aren’t going to sit around waiting for things to develop with arms that have failed to produce.
According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports, the Athletics will likely be looking to the trade market this season to find the starting pitching they feel is missing from their rotation.
"Given the issues with the back end of the rotation, there is little doubt that Oakland, a definite contender, will look to trade for another starter and might be willing to move a player off the big-league roster to do so."
It hasn’t been all that bad for the A’s rotation as guys like Scott Kazmir, Sonny Gray and Jesse Chavez are picking it up but there have been issues with lagging production and devastating injuries that have held Oakland back.
They may not make a splashy trade and they may not wait until July to pull one off but the A’s will no doubt be scoping the trade market for starting pitching and it may help put them over the top.
