PlayStation 4 to be Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare lead console

While the release of the initial trailer and website for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare by Sledgehammer Games was just unveiled last week, information about the next game in the long-standing series is already starting to pile in.

Everything about the trailer looked gorgeous, from the inclusion of character visuals to the appearance of Kevin Spacey in the game, the Xbox One displayed everything perfectly.  Unfortunately though, for fans of the Microsoft system, it doesn’t appear to be the lead system.

Industry insider Ahsan Rasheed tweeted:

"Also I want to say one thing to all the Xbox One fans that keep telling me COD is X1 lead platform. It’s not. It’s a marketing deal."

He went on to say the Playstation 4 will be the lead console and makes sensible points as to why:

"Here’s the part you should pay attention to. Developers inside Infinity Ward prefer the PS4. Majority will use it to play at home."

This makes sense as Playstation 4 sales currently reside north of 7 million.  He finished saying:

"Put that inside your head. The developers who made the game. Majority will play the game on PS4 at home with friends."

He went on to back his comments when challenged by another user that though this was true for Infinity Ward, it may not be for Sledgehammer Games:

"So cute. If you think the PS4 version won’t be the definitive console version technically. I have some bad news."

While Rasheed already has a very solid and reputable track record, it also makes sense to assume that developers would choose to use the most powerful console during development, and at this point in time, seems to be the Playstation 4.

Let us know your thoughts and if this affects your purchase decision at all.
