It is no secret the Arizona Cardinals need a quarterback they can develop.
However, with the 20th-overall selection in the first round of the draft Thursday night, it’s hard to imagine the Cardinals getting the quarterback they value most.
It appears as though that quarterback could be former Central Florida Knights’ star Blake Bortles. Although the Cardinals probably won’t – or can’t – trade into the top five to select Bortles, they could be in play for him a little later.
According to Tony Pauline of Draft Insider, the Cardinals could pull the trigger on a trade to move up and select Bortles if he falls out of the top 10.
"Speaking of Bortles, if he slides past the Minnesota Vikings at the eight spot look for the Arizona Cardinals to work the phones in an attempt to move up for a chance to select the quarterback."
Pauline also suggest Bortles could be a “dark horse” for the Cleveland Browns with the fourth-overall pick.
Bortles completed 259 of 382 passes for 3,581 yards with 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 2013.
