The pitchers had their way on Wednesday, earning three of the four spots in today’s top fantasy baseball stats recap.

A few veterans are on the list, but we start with a youngster having an under-the-radar great start to the season.

Daily Fantasy Baseball MVP

Tom Koehler — Miami Marlins

The other pitchers listed today were a little better in a certain stat, but none had as complete a day.

I don’t know if the Marlins’ hot start is for real or not, but they’re getting some great pitching now, and not just from Jose Fernandez. This entire staff is dealing right now. Koehler has had seven outings this year, six were quality starts. He’s a good add for those looking for pitching, at least in the short term.

Daily Honorable Mentions

1. Mark Buehrle — Toronto Blue Jays

His opponent was Cliff Lee, but the better veteran lefty on the mound Wednesday was Buehrle, at it wasn’t that close. You usually don’t see Buehrle with this many strikeouts so anyone that picked Buehrle up got a nice little bonus.

He doesn’t have anywhere near the availability of Koehler but if you can pick him up and need a starting pitcher, Buehrle is a good guy to go for until/unless he cools down.

2. Edwin Encarnacion — Toronto Blue Jays

The only hitter that cracked today’s list, Encarnacion had a a nice all-around day, helping our above subject pick up an easy win.

Edwin hasn’t had a great start to the season, but he’s now homered in consecutive games, so Blue Jays fans and fantasy owners alike have reason to be excited.

3. Adam Wainwright — St. Louis Cardinals

[table id=691 /]

If we had to vote for the NL Cy Young Award right now, this may be the guy to get it. He’s been one of the best pitchers in the league up to this point and really took advantage of a struggling Atlanta offense.

Wainwright is 6/8 in quality starts this year, with the two exceptions coming against the Cubs, of all teams. At this point, he’s about as valuable as any pitcher in the game.
