Buffalo linebacker Khalil Mack is one of the most talented players in this year’s draft, but that doesn’t stop him from playing with a huge chip on his shoulder. Prior to the 2014 NFL Draft, an interesting note surfaced regarding Mack’s choice of jersey number while with the Bulls.
Mack wore No. 46 in college, which was chosen to reflect his player rating in EA Sports’ NCAA Football video game.
P. Schrager of FOX Sports passed along the nugget of information after being informed by an NFL executive.
Players choose their number for a variety of reasons, whether it is just because that was the first number they were ever given or because they are wearing the number of a childhood hero.
For Mack, his number was a constant reminder of everyone who doubted him.
Mack will hear his name called early on Thursday night, and from there he will begin his professional career and look to continue proving all of her critics wrong. If there is one thing you would like from a player, it is someone who is never satisfied with where they are. Mack certainly appears to be one of those players that will always play with a chip on his shoulder.
