Marshall Faulk: Cowboys could benefit from Manziel; deal Romo to Texans

There have been significant rumors lately that the Dallas Cowboys have some serious interest in former Texas A&M quarterback and Heisman winner Johnny Manziel, despite Jerry Jones coming out and stating this week that the position is not a priority in the first round for the organization.

Still, we all know that this is Jones that we’re dealing with, and nothing is ever set in stone with the Cowboys until they either make the move, or decide against it.

So if the Cowboys do want Manziel badly enough, how far would they be willing to go? Well, in a short conversation, Marshall Faulk told FanSided just a few hours before the draft kicks off, he believes that the Cowboys should get up to the front to grab the dual-threat star, and in addition to the draft picks that Houston would be asking for, Jones should finally part ways with Tony Romo.

“The Dallas Cowboys are definitely a team that would benefit from a Johnny Manziel.” Faulk said. “They could give the Texans Romo, a first round pick–whatever they’re asking for. They’re just not a team that’s ready to win the Super Bowl right now.”

Of course the chances of this happening are very slim, but nothing is ever impossible when the NFL Draft is underway. We’ve seen crazier deals in the past, however in today’s social media-driven world, a deal of this magnitude would send shockwaves throughout the entire NFL industry.

But in the grand scheme of things, Faulk is correct, it might be time for Jones and the ‘Boys to make a very bold move such as this because they’re not showing any signs of making a significant upswing in the NFC East.
