The Atlanta Hawks, without star Al Horford, fought through various other injuries to get into the playoffs and take the top-seeded Indiana Pacers to seven games.
Two unheralded players who played important roles in the Hawks’ success were point guard Shelvin Mack and big man Pero Antic.
According to Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Mack wants to remain with the team.
"Shelvin Mack and Gustavo Ayon are also restricted free agents. Mack worked his way to become the backup point guard in the postseason.“I would like to be back,” Mack said. “I’ll continue to work and improve my game and let my agent and everyone else deal with that. Of course (I want to return). I feel like it’s a great situation for me.”"
The Hawks are also expected to pick the option on Pero Antic.
Mack averaged 7.5 points, 3.7 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game while Antic put up 7.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.
