The Kansas City Chiefs had the No. 23 overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft. They used that to add another pass rusher electing to draft Auburn Tigers defensive end Dee Ford. Some thought they’d look at a wide receiver to collect weapons for quarterback Alex Smith, instead they added another pass rusher to an already solid defensive unit.
It was a quite pick as everyone was still focused on the Cleveland Browns drafting Johnny Manziel in the pick just ahead of the Chiefs. But the Chiefs defense got a lot stronger in a division where three teams made the 2014 NFL Playoffs.
