The Cleveland Browns made the highest-profile pick of the 2014 NFL Draft when they selected Johnny Manziel with the no. 22 pick. To get into that spot, the Browns made a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles to trade up.
It turns out they were not the only team interested in making that move. According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, the Minnesota Vikings also tried to trade with the Philadelphia Eagles to draft in that spot and take Manziel. They even thought they had a deal in place.

The Vikings will still have a chance to land a quality quarterback with Teddy Bridgewater and Derek Carr, among others, still on the board at that position in the second round and possibly beyond. But with this report from Glazer, they will have a heavy ‘what if’ to consider in the coming years whether Manziel is a success or a failure as the quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.
