The Jacksonville Jaguars might have gotten the steal of the 2014 NFL Draft when they selected former USC wide receiver Marqise Lee with the no. 39 pick.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the Jaguars were not the only team interested in selecting Lee in that spot. The New York Jes reportedly made a big push to try and beat the Jaguars to the uber-talented wide receiver.
The #Jets were furiously trying to trade up with the #Bucs, hoping to take WR Marqise Lee. Their fear was the #Jaguars would take him.

And there it is, the #Jaguars take USC’s Marqise Lee. The Jets tried to trade up for him, couldn’t make it happen.

The Jets would have added a nice piece to their efforts to rebuild their offense on the fly if they had managed to get into that spot to get Lee. Lining him up across from Eric Decker would have been a marked improvement to their receiver corps. Instead it is the Jaguars that find a potentially elite wide receiver at a great value in the second round.
