The Dallas Cowboys traded up to the 34th overall pick in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft on Friday night. To make things even odder, they traded with the Washington Redskins who originally owned the pick. The Redskins didn’t have a pick in the first round either.
With that 34th pick the Cowboys drafted Boise State defensive end Demarcus Lawrence. It addresses a major need for the Cowboys who struggled along the defensive line last season with injury. They also lost defensive end DeMarcus Ware to free agency and the Denver Broncos, and defensive tackle Jason Hatcher left in free agency for the Washington Redskins.
The Cowboys have now addressed two of their biggest needs early in the draft, and they might look at the defensive line again.
