The Houston Texans decided to go with South Carolina Gamecocks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney instead of drafting a quarterback. Clowney vowed to get to work and said he isn’t going to be “let anybody down.”

“I’m just ready to get down there and help the organization out and get to work,” Clowney said Thursday, via the team’s official website. “I know myself, and I’m not going to let anybody down. I’m going to show the world what I got.”

Clowney played defensive end in college but the Texans will likely utilize him at an outside linebacker according to general manager Rick Smith.

“I fully expect that he will be an outside linebacker initially,” Smith said.

Clowney said his focus would be at pass rushing in the Texans offense.

“Pass rush,” Clowney said. “He’s gonna start me off slow. Pass rush, that’s my strong point. Then he’s going to show me and get me involved in dropping, schemes and all, which I know I can do.”
