Winners: Oakland Raiders

We might be witnessing a serious change in the NFL Draft as we know it and have come to know it over the last many years. If 2014 is any indication, the Raiders might actually start doing things that make sense.

After drafting Khalil Mack with the fifth-overall pick on Thursday, the Raiders took former Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr with the no. 36 pick. He won’t be asked to start right away with the presence of Matt Schaub, giving him time to develop his ability to read a defense and make throws under pressure.

Where they picked Carr the move made perfect sense. Read that sentence again. The Raiders…did something that makes perfect sense in the draft. When it comes to inexplicable draft transactions, it appears that Oakland may have officially handed the baton to the Washington Redskins.
