There has been a lot made about the NFL future of tight end Jermichael Finley, mainly about if it should even exist or not. But the former Packers target isn’t ready to put his health and life down the line above the life that remains in front of him at the moment and he’s pushing to return to the NFL in 2014.
His old team, the Green Bay Packers, have yet to engage in contract tales with him and made a move on the second day of the draft that seemed to signal an end to the Finley era in Green Bay. But despite drafting tight end Richard Rodgers, Ted Thompson isn’t ruling out the possibility that Finley returns in 2014.
It’s unclear when or even if Finley will ever again be medically cleared to play football and the Packers taking Rodgers seems to be more out of precaution than anything else. Then again, they never talked to him in the offseason and didn’t give him a fat extension before last season which means they may have already moved on from Finley long before his neck injury occurred.
