The Green Bay Packers drafted Wisconsin Badgers wide receiver Jared Abbrederis with the 176th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. If you can believe it, is the first time general manager Ted Thompson has drafted a Wisconsin player in his 10th draft.

On the Packers’ website they have a year-by-year breakdown of Thompson’s draft picks to verify. If you were curious, his first draft pick was Aaron Rodgers.

It is still kind of surprising that the Packers haven’t taken a Wisconsin player sooner given the proximity of the school and the team, both residing in Wisconsin. Nevertheless, Abbrederis has to be thrilled to be staying in his home state and playing with Rodgers.
