NFL Rumors: Carolina Panthers claim Drake Nevis
As teams to rush to sign the undrafted free agents that they believe may slipped through the cracks, they have to trim their rosters in order to bring all of these undrafted free agents into camp with them.
On Monday, the Jacksonville Jaguars released defensive tackle Drake Nevis to make room for the undrafted free agents they have brought in.
Nevis was not a free man for long.
The Carolina Panthers have claimed Nevis, according to the NFL Transaction Report (via NFL Trade Rumors).
"The Panthers claimed DT Drake Nevis off of waivers from the Jaguars on Tuesday, according to the NFL transactions release.Carolina has made a conscious effort to bolster their defensive line recent years, so Nevis may have a tough time making the team’s final 53-man roster."
Nevis was once viewed as a prospect with a bright future and was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
Nevis made 11 tackles in 12 games playing for the Jaguars and Dallas Cowboys in 2013.
