The 2014 season has already been an interesting one for veteran left-hander Randy Wolf, and on Wednesday, things got even stranger. In Spring Training, Wolf was seemingly on track for a rotation spot with the Seattle Mariners before being released, but he landed on his feet with a contract from the Arizona Diamondbacks.
However, Wolf never made the Major League roster with Arizona this season, and as a result of a clause in his contract, he was able to opt out of his deal on Wednesday.
Dbacks announce Randy Wolf has exercised an out clause in his contract and has been granted his release.

The fun didn’t stop there, however, as Wolf is reportedly nearing a deal with the Miami Marlins.
I'm told Randy Wolf is headed to the Marlins.

At the time of this post, the specifics of any deal with Miami are unknown, but it would be an interesting landing spot for the 37-year-old Wolf. He has posted a 4.50 ERA over six starts in triple-A this season, but in Miami, he would be operating in a spacious ballpark that could allow for his profile as a solid control pitcher to take shape.
Randy Wolf likely won’t be impacting a pennant race this season, but if the Marlins hang around and need an arm, he could provide league-average production.
