The Milwaukee Brewers have activated OF Ryan Braun from the disabled list. Aramis Ramirez was placed on the DL in a corresponding roster move.
It was reported on Sunday that Aramis would wind up on the DL, but he was not put there right away because the Brewers were not sure if Braun would be ready in time or not.
Braun was back patrolling right field in last night’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He went 0-2 in his return. Braun was pulled after five innings as part of a pre-planned exit.
The exit of Carlos Gomez was not planned, however. Gomez left the game in the fifth inning with lower back tightness. He is listed as day to day, so be sure to check his status prior to tomorrow’s game.
The return of Braun made Caleb Gindl expendable, so the Brewers optioned him to Nashville and called up utilityman Elian Herrera.
Herrera was on an absolute tear at Nashville, so the Brewers will likely try to play him at third base as well as in the outfield. Herrera will likely play third against left handed pitchers since the Brewers have been starting Mark Reynolds over Lyle Overbay at first against lefties.

The San Diego Padres have activated OF Carlos Quentin from the disabled list. Quentin started in left field and batted cleanup for San Diego in their 2-1 victory over the Reds last night. Quentin was 0-for-3 with a walk in his return to the lineup. Quentin had been out with a bruised tibia since Spring Training. His return should help spark the struggling Padre offense.
The return of Quentin will likely cut into the playing time of struggling outfielders Will Venable and Chris Denorfia. If you own either of those two players in deeper leagues, make sure you check your lineups daily to see if they are playing or not.
The St. Louis Cardinals have placed LHP Tyler Lyons on the disabled list with a strained left shoulder. Lyons’ shoulder was bothering him in Monday’s disastrous outing against the Chicago Cubs. Lyons gave up nine runs in four innings.
LHP Sam Freeman has been called up from Louisville in the corresponding roster move. It is widely believed that Freeman’s stay in the majors will be short lived. He will likely be sent down once Jaime Garcia returns from the DL, which could come as early as Saturday. Which just happens to be Lyons’ vacated rotation spot.

The Kansas City Royals have placed 2B Omar Infante on the DL with a sore back. Infante was hitting .267 with two homers and 19 RBI on the season.
The Royals have called up Pedro Ciriaco to add infield depth. Johnny Giovatella will likely get most of the starts at second for the Royals while Infante is out. Giovatella was hitting .352 at AAA Omaha, so he could be worth an add in deep leagues if you need help at second base.
