The Bears cap guru Cliff Stein has worked fast in the past few years to get the rookies signed as quickly as possible, but this may be a new record as all eight of the draft picks will be under contract when the team’s rookie minicamp gets underway on Friday.
Sutton is expected to compete for reps at the three-technique spot at defensive tackle after being named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year each of the past two seasons, although his production dropped considerably as a senior after an All-American junior season when he played 40 pounds lighter and had 13 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss.
Sutton joins Kyle Fuller, Ego Ferguson, Ka’Deem Carey, Brock Vereen, David Fales, Pat O’Donnell and Charles Leno as the members of the Bears 2014 draft class.
