The San Diego Chargers selected Georgia Tech outside linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu in the second-round of the 2014 NFL Draft and they are hoping that he will be able to become a productive player on the defensive side of the ball.

If confidence can get you anywhere, the Chargers will have struck gold and added an impact rusher because Attaochu is confident that he will be an exceptional player in this league.

I’m going to be an amazing player,” Attaochu told U-T San Diego.

“I’ve been blessed throughout my career and I hope to continue that here. I’m going to be a fixture on this defense for years to come. I was a three-star recruit out of high school playing with all these 4-and-5-star guys. I had the drive to succeed. I was one of the best pass rushers to go through Georgia Tech. But I’m not a big hype guy.”

Attaochu plays will a level of intensity that allows him to take his game to the next level and that should be something that his teammates take notice of from Day 1.

“I’m mean,” he said. “Ask any of my teammates. That’s who I am. When I started playing the game, I was that crazy kid on the field. I had intensity people couldn’t match. Off the field, I’m a completely different person. My teammates thought I was crazy, but I have to be in that state of mind when I play. I’m always in a state of paranoia. I’ve got to take your head off.”

Every player needs to have self confidence in order to succeed in the NFL, and if Attaochu can become half of the player he expects he will be then the Chargers will have found great value in their second-round selection.
