NBA Rumors: Goran Dragic doesn’t think playoff system is fair
By Josh Hill
The Phoenix Suns were one of the best stories to follow in the NBA this season and that had everything to do with the fact that they weren’t supposed to win anything but stayed in the playoff hunt until the very end. Projected as a top lottery team before the season, the Suns weren’t eliminated from the playoffs until the second to last day of the season — and that’s an accomplishment in the Western Conference.
Out east, it’s common place for lottery teams to be in the hunt until the very end of the season but on the opposite end of the spectrum. Where the Suns were stellar, the Knicks, Pistons and Hawks all duked it out with sub-par records for the last playoff spot.
Needless to say, Goran Dragic — the Suns star guard — doesn’t think the system is fair.
"“These are the NBA rules. The commissioner and the NBA people know better. Of course we feel that there isn’t justice. But this is the NBA competition system a lot of years now. And none knows what’s going to happen later”."
Phoenix finished 48-34 which was better than the Charlotte Bobcats, Atlanta Hawks, Washington Wizards and Brooklyn Nets who were all Eastern Conference playoff teams. The system may be broken but there’s really nothing Dragic can do about it but make sure that the Suns elimination from postseason contention doesn’t come until after the regular season is over.
