The Minnesota Timberwolves need a head coach but they’re already starting to cross names off the list rather than add ones to it. It doesn’t seem the Wolves are in a position to start nixing names off their list but that seems to be what they’ve done with former Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl.

It’s not entirely Minnesota’s fault though, as it appears the lack of interest from Flip Saunders is stemming from Karl looking at other jobs ahead of the one with the Wolves.

According to Jerry Zgoda of The Star Tribune, it’s likely that Karl will pursue to the head coaching job in Cleveland or in Washington is Randy Wittman is let go this summer. Only one of the jobs that Karl wants is currently vacant, as the Cavaliers fired Mike Woodson this past week for the second time in recent history.

The Wizards job is one that many coaches could likely be coveting as it’s a prime situation to walk into, although it’s not currently a vacant position. While Randy Wittman’s contract is up this summer, the belief is that he did enough to keep his jobs nd that the team is responding to him in a way that warrants an extension.

Either way, Karl is scoping out his options and if this past week was any indication of where his interests lie, he’s far more likely to take a job in Cleveland than he is in Minnesota.
