The Kevin Love trade drama is hitting Dwight Howard levels and we’re not even done with the postseason yet. But while we heard increasing rumors about Howard a few summers ago before he landed with the Los Angeles Lakers, we are again hearing the same exact thing, only it’s Love to the Lakers and not Howard.

Lakers fans will hope that’s where the comparison ends, as the Howard era in Los Angeles was not pleasant and didn’t end well, but the bottom line is the Lakers are in on Love and are apparently going to go after him hard. According to Marc Berman from the New York Post, the Lakers are going to make a ‘monster’ push to land Love in a trade this summer rather than wait until the summer of 2015 to sign him.

Berman also mentions the Knicks as a possibility for Love but the Lakers seem to have more assets to offer in a trade. That being said, no one is trading for Love unless he can agree to sign long-term with his new team and that’s something the Lakers think they’ll be able to make happen.

Minnesota won’t give up Love cheap, as they technically have another year to convince him to stay, but the Lakers want to be aggressive and that might result in a trade sooner rather than later.
