NBA Rumors: Memphis Grizzlies looking to trade for Tom Thibodeau?
The Memphis Grizzlies parted ways with CEO Jason LeVien and assistant general manager Stu Lash and more changes could occur after another early playoff ouster and according to Bill Simmons, Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau could be a trade candidate for the club and receive a deal similar to what the Detroit Pistons gave to Stan Van Gundy.
Van Gundy was given $35 million over five years to be the head of basketball operations in addition to head coaching duties.
Thibodeau has had his name bandied about from coast-to-coast with the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors reportedly interested in acquiring the Bulls coach. The Warriors filled their position but the Knicks and Lakers still have an opening and the Grizzlies could soon have one too if they fire Dave Joerger and executive Vice President John Hollinger.
The Bulls have remained quiet as they continue to head their head coach’s name mentioned in connection with other teams.
One has to wonder if this is Thibodeau’s camp sending out feelers to other teams and letting them know they’d be interested if they’re interested or if these teams are serious about giving the Bulls somethign worthwhile in a trade.
However, any trade of Thibodeau would all but clinch any talk about Carmelo Anthony coming to Chicago.
