The Cleveland Browns tried to hold off the tide of media they knew would come with drafting Johnny Manziel for as long as they could. On Wednesday though, it appears the team will have to bend to league protocol. As Tom Withers of the AP reports, the Browns will allow national media inside practice for the full Wednesday session. It will be the precocious rookie’s first appearance with the full media treatment as a member of the Cleveland Browns.

While tomorrow will be a first, it won’t be a constant. Head coach Mike Pettine has already made it clear that it’s the NFL rules, not the Browns warm hearted sentiment for the national media, that fueled the decision.

"”I think it’s once a week is the policy. We’re not going to go overboard with it. There will be a limited amount of time you can film and certain players will be available certain days. That’s how we’ll go moving forward.”"

What should we expect from increased exposure to Johnny Manziel? Likely nothing. If the Cleveland owner Jimmy Haslam’s response to Manziel joining the team is any indication, you can expect the team to want any Manziel Factor to be limited to the field. One wrong word from their new quarterback could result in a circus atmosphere at the Cleveland facility and that’s the last thing a team needs when it’s trying to pull itself from the wastelands of the NFL.
