Defense was a definite need for the San Diego Chargers in the 2014 NFL Draft and in the second round last weekend, they traded up seven spots with the Miami Dolphins to select Georgia Tech linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu. On Tuesday, they agreed to terms with the player that they gave up a fourth-round pick for.

Attaochu, while not playing for one of the more notable programs in the country in the Yellow Jackets, has been one of the more terrorizing defensive forces in the NFL the past few years. In four years on campus, Attaochu recorded 196 tackles with 31.5 sacks, including 12.5 of those sacks coming in his senior year of 2013 alone.

Earlier this week, Attaochu showed some of the confidence he has in himself that helps make him so effective as he explained what he wants to accomplish in San Diego.

“I’m going to be an amazing player,” Attaochu told U-T San Diego. “I’ve been blessed throughout my career and I hope to continue that here. I’m going to be a fixture on this defense for years to come. I was a three-star recruit out of high school playing with all these 4-and-5-star guys. I had the drive to succeed. I was one of the best pass rushers to go through Georgia Tech. But I’m not a big hype guy.”
