NBA Rumors: Atlanta Hawks after Trevor Ariza, Spencer Hawes & Jordan Hill
Although they finished with a record of 38-44, the Atlanta Hawks had a very impressive 2013-14 season. The Hawks lost their best player, big man Al Horford, to a torn pectoral muscle after just 29 games, yet still managed to not only get into the postseason, but push the top-seed Indiana Pacers to seven games before bowing out of the postseason.
With Horford returning to join power forward Paul Millsap, point guard Jeff Teague and a solid cast of role players, the Hawks will have high expectations next season. In order to meet those expectations, they will still have to improve their roster. After getting out of trouble with the salary cap by trading guard Joe Johnson to the Brooklyn Nets and letting forward Josh Smith leave for the Detroit Pistons in free agency, the Hawks can afford to make a few upgrades.
According to Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio, the Hawks are interested in Cleveland Cavaliers’ center Spencer Hawes, Washington Wizards’ swingman Trevor Ariza and Los Angeles Lakers’ big man Jordan Hill.
Hawes was dealt from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Cavaliers just before the trad deadline. He put up 13.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.2 blocks per game.
Ariza enjoyed a fantastic season, averaging 14.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
Hill went for 9.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game last season.
