The previous minor league record of four straight at-bats with a home run has been broken by Mobile BayBears first baseman Jon Griffin, who was able to knock the ball out of the park in five consecutive at-bats on Thursday.

Griffin had four home runs during yesterday’s game, and started where he left off with a home run in the second inning today, according to the Associated Press.

Personally, I think it is time for me to get to more minor league ball games. Griffin plays for the Mobile BayBears and they are going against the Tennessee Smokies. Does it get any more awesome than that?

In addition, the promotions at minor league games are great.

Dollar hot dogs are not uncommon, and the prices in general are lower than the MLB.  It is also a great way to see the up and coming talent on your favorite team.

In this case, the D-backs don’t need a first baseman since they have one of the best players in the game playing first, Paul Goldschmidt. He has nine HRs and 32 RBI this season, and finished second in MVP voting last year.
