Now according to Jennifer Langosch on Twitter, the St. Louis Cardinals have placed left-handed relief pitcher Kevin Siegrist on the 15-day disabled list with a left forearm strain and will be heading back to St. Louis to be re-examined.
Siegrist currently owns a solid career 1.51 ERA with 77 strikeouts through 59 2/3 innings of work.
If this injury proves to be more than it is, it will be a huge loss for the Cardinals considering the success the starting rotation and bullpen head during the 2013 regular and post-season.
Now that Siegrist is on the disabled list, the Red Birds have called up left-handed pitcher Sammy Freeman from Triple-A Memphis.
The 26 year old was pulled back and forth between the Majors and Minors left season with the Cardinals as he picked up a middle relief role while appearing in 13 games.
He was previously called up on May 13 and optioned just seven days later to clear a spot for Jason Motte who returned from Tommy John surgery.
Freeman is a hard throwing lefty will more than likely be used against left-handed hitters during his time with the big league roster.
