Los Angeles Dodgers ace, Clayton Kershaw, had one of the worst starts of his career last saturday in Arizona. Kershaw allowed seven runs, and was withdrawn from the game in only the second inning. However, he didn’t let that hinder him last night against the Philadelphia Phillies. The left handed, Cy-Young winner, fired six shutout frames with nine strikeouts, leading the Dodgers to a much needed, 2-0 win over the Phillies.

Kershaw spoke to MLB.com after the game:

"“Just pretty miserable,” Kershaw said. “Those four days or five days in between, it’s just not a whole lot of fun sitting on that game. I’m glad this day came. I’m glad we got a win and now this is my last start, and not that one, so it’s good.”"

Kershaw had got off to a tough start this season. After shutting down the Diamondbacks in Australia, Kershaw spent some time on the DL. He returned to action with a solid start against the Giants, before getting roughed up by Arizona. The Dodgers, who are four and a half games back from the Giants, will welcome Kershaw’s return to form in a hope he can spark them back to winning ways.

Kershaw overcame some scary moments from the Phillies offense, and a 43 minutes rain delay, to record his third win of the season. He now has rather respectable numbers on the year. He has compiled a 3-1 record, in five starts and 28 innings with a 3.49 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP.
