Football Transfer Rumors: Emmanuel Adebayor to Monaco

Under new ownership Monaco have invested heavily into buying world class players, and intend to continue to do so this summer. The team is reportedly looking for more force up top, and a target appears to be Tottenham’s Emmanuel Adebayor, according to the Daily Star.

Adebayor, who spent three seasons with Monaco before making the move to the Premier League and Arsenal, seems to have caught the eye of Monaco co-owner Dmitry Rybololev, who wants to bring the Togolese 30-year-old back to Ligue 1.

Adebayor had a very up-and-down season. He struggled to assert himself under Andre Villas-Boas, who froze his striker out of the team, but came back with vengeance when the former Spurs manager was sacked. Tim Sherwood entrusted Adebayor with playing time and the striker put up several great performances.

However, Sherwood was also relieved of his duties at the end of the season, and Spurs are looking for a new manager. It is probably safe to assume that until Tottenham chairman finds a suitable replacement for Sherwood, no decisions on Adebayor or any other player will be made.

Despite having one of their key players, Falcao, out with an injury, Monaco finished second in Ligue 1 this year, nine points behind PSG.
