Cain was able to stretch and exercise with the other starting pitchers on Friday night, but said that he’s still feeling some soreness.
“He’s been bouncing around pretty good,” Bochy said Friday. “He was looked at when he got back last night. He was going to play catch and there’s a good chance we’ll make a decision tomorrow what to do with Matt.”
The Giants’ starter said that he felt something in his hamstring when he threw the final pitch of the third inning during his Wednesday start in Denver, causing Bochy to bring in reliever Yusmeiro Petit during the next inning.
Cain has already had one stint on the DL this season after cutting off the tip of his finger while making a sandwich.
The Giants starters currently sit seventh in the National League with a 3.61 ERA, and their rotation has 289 innings pitched, putting them sixth in the league for the 2014 season.
Cain is currently 1-3, with a 3.66 ERA this season.
