Rockies’ Carlos Gonzalez expects to return on Sunday

Colorado Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez has been out of the starting lineup for the second place club since Wednesday with inflammation in his left index finger.

Now according to Patrick Saunders on Twitter, Gonzalez is expected to return to the Colorado Rockies lineup on Sunday during the series finale against the Atlanta Braves. They already lost infielder Nolan Arenado for at least six weeks – which will more than likely get him an extra couple days during the All-Star break.
Gonzalez feels better but is not completely healed – so bringing him back before he’s completely ready to go could come back to haunt them in a couple days. Hopefully it doesn’t result in him ending up having to spend time on the 15-day disabled list if things happen to get worse for him.
Rockies are coming off a huge 3-1 win over Atlanta thanks to a solo blast by Troy Tulowitzki – it was home run number 14 on the season. CarGo currently has seven home runs, 29 RBIs on a batting line of .276/.321/.477. There’s a good chance he ends up playing in the 2014 All-Star game as long as he’s 100 percent.
He just needs to avoid the home run derby if he’s asked to participate.
