The Tide entered the weekend with 15 total commitments, including on 5-star prospect (cornerback Minkah Fitzpatrick from St. Peter’s Preparatory School), 11 4-star prospects and three 3-star prospects committed so far.

About the only position they have not cleaned up with is tight end.

That changed on Sunday when the country’s second-ranked tight end prospect, 4-star Hale Hentges, gave his pledge to the Tide.

Hentges announced his commitment via his twitter account.

The 6’6, 230-pound Hentges also could wind up as a defensive end on the next level, but he currently projects as a tight end. Hentges is from Jefferson City, Missouri and attends Helias.

He is ranked as the country’s second-best tight end prospect (4-star Aliz’e Jones, who is commited to the UCLA Bruins is ranked number one), the second-best overall prospect in the state of Missouri (4-star wide receiver Alex Ofodile is the top-ranked prospect in the state) and 102nd-best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ sports composite rankings.

Hentges also held offers from several other power programs, including the Auburn Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Ohio State Buckeyes, the defending National Champion Florida State Seminoles and the hometown Missouri Tigers, among many others. Hentges has visited each of those schools over the last two months.
