Whilst Springer isn’t a complete hitter, he strikes out a lot, doesn’t take too many walks, he has power, speed and potential. He returned from a day-to-day injury last night, with a two home run game. He hit the exact same pitch, one to left field and one to right field, and did so almost effortlessly.
Just like Giancarlo Stanton and the Miami Marlins, Springer can’t lift the Astros, but he sure can spark them. Stanton has always been a magnificent hitter, however, he could only truly be able to guide the Marlins to a playoff push when the Marlins added some pieces around him. Jose Fernandez, stepped up, the Marlins purchased some solid players, and they can now challenge for the postseason.

Springer currently has a .246/.329/.431 slashline with a 32% strikeout percentage. These numbers don’t flatter Springer, however, he does have six home runs and 20 runs batted in, and a .342 batting average on balls in play, in only 33 games. He has speed too, last season in the minors, Springer stole 22 bases and scored 50 runs.
Springer is a fastball hitter, with a 8.2 fastball runs above average rating. He can hit fastballs to all fields, and for a lot of power. If Springer can start to hit offspeed pitches a little better, he could be a real gem in the middle of the Astros lineup.
