The big news of the day in Major League Baseball was the no-hitter that Los Angeles Dodgers’ starter Josh Beckett twirled against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. It took 128 pitches and some excitement in the 9th inning, but Beckett struck out Chase Utley looking to record the final out and complete the no-no.
Given Beckett’s cantankerous personality and his odd history (fried chicken and beer, anybody?), you better believe that those who write about and follow baseball on Twitter had some interesting reactions. Here is a roundup of some of the finest reactions:
My least favorite major league pitcher just no-hit my least favorite major league team. So some seriously mixed feelings are happening.

That. Was. Awesome. Congratulations, Josh Beckett. A pleasure to witness. #Dodgers. 21st no hitter in Dodger history.

Raise your hand if you predicted Josh Beckett pitching the first no-hitter of 2014. He's like the fourth dude on his own team you'd pick.

What a wonderfully ballsy pitch by Josh Beckett to end his no-hitter. Fastball down main street to a fastball murderer, Chase Utley. Beauty.

No-hitters involve as much luck as skill. Ask Yu Darvish. Some days are just better than others. #MLB

possibly more impressive that Josh Beckett pitched a game in under 3 hours

C’mon. Did you think this post was going to end with anything other than a fried chicken joke? Never forget.
