Mark Cuban thinks Clippers bidding starts at $1.5 billion
By Mike Dyce
After the fall out of the Donald Sterling controversy, the speculation about the Los Angeles Clippers, potential buyers and price tag began circulating. Dallas Mavericks owner weighed in on it in an interview earlier in may saying he believes the Los Angeles Clippers will sell for “far north” of $1 billion.

“Acquiring the franchise has gone from rich guys or women being able to write a check for a team, to it being a consortium where you have a lot of stakeholders,” Cuban said.
Cuban added: “This is a real business. It’s not a trophy asset. It has to make money.”
Now Cuban is weighing in on the Clippers potential sale again, this time from the Indianapolis 500 where he waved the green flag. This time he talked about where the starting bid, and it is indeed far north of $1 billion.
“I wouldn’t be shocked if the bidding starts at $1.5 billion,” Cuban said in a brief interview before the race, via the Los Angeles Times.
Cuban also added that he had “no idea” when the owners might decide to force a sale. Cuban also wouldn’t elaborate on how many potential bidders there would be for the team. If you believe everything you hear in the media there are multiple famous names throwing their hat in the ring, but probably more that we’re unaware of. Of course most of them would likely team up to be an ownership group like Cuban said in the CNN interview. That comes on the heels of rumors that Sterling is reportedly moving forward towards selling the team.
