Chris Johnson wants Andre Johnson to join Jets
By Mike Dyce
Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson isn’t too thrilled to be starting over again with the team. He voiced his concerns and frustations with the lack of winning earlier in May.
“I just look at my career. … I’ve only been to the playoffs twice. I think we’ve only had three winning seasons,” said Johnson, according to the Houston Chronicle. “I don’t think any player wants to experience that. I think over time it can become very frustrating.
“And this offseason has been very frustrating for me; beginning of the offseason, I should say. That’s just kind of where I’m at right now.”
Johnson then didn’t show up to voluntary OTAs, which wasn’t necessarily a surprise.
From NFL.com:
"NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport has reported that Andre Johnson is unlikely to attend Houston Texans mandatory minicamp in June, so it was no surprise that the veteran wide receiver failed to report for voluntary OTAs on Tuesday."
So if Johnson is looking for a new team, former Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson is campaigning for him to join him with the New York Jets.
New Jets quarterback Michael Vick had campaigned for them to sign wide receiver DeSean Jackson, but ultimately he signed with the Washington Redskins. Adding Andre Johnson would be a huge upgrade, but not one necessarily that is realistic and they’d have to trade a lot for him most likely. But you could imagine the excitement around the Jets if they brought in Johnson.
Imagine Rex Ryan breaking back out those Super Bowl guarantees.
