According to Jeff Goodman of ESPN.com, Hairston also has work outs schedule with the Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets and Phoenix Suns. He will be in Phoenix Thursday, Boston on June 3 and Charlotte on June 4.
Hairston was once a highly-touted prospect out of Dudley High School and Greensboro, North Carolina and played his senior season at the Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia. He was a McDonalds All-American and wound up returning to North Carolina to play college basketball for the Tar Heels. Hairston began to play more and more during his first two seasons in Chapel Hill. However, after his sophomore season, Hairston was suspended for involvement with rental cars and later decided to enter the NBA’s D-League where he played with the Texas Legends.
In his first year with the Legends, Hairston was one of the best players in the D-League. He averaged 21.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 32.3 minutes per game in 26 appearances for the Legends.
At the NBA’s Scouting Combine, Hairston measured in at 6’5.25 and 229 pounds with a wing span of 6’9, showing decent size.
Jonathan Givony of Draft Express currently ranks Hairston as the 24th-best prospect in the draft and projects to be selected by the Charlotte Hornets with the 24th-overall pick.
