The Montreal Canadiens are at home on Tuesday night, as they welcome the New York Rangers for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Unfortunately for the Canadiens, the two sides are meeting under less than ideal circumstances.

More from Montreal Canadiens

Montreal is on the brink of elimination, and there is nothing more disappointing than having your season come to an end in front of your home fans.

It won’t be easy to win out the remainder of the series, which is what the Canadiens need to do to keep their Stanley Cup hopes alive, but they know exactly what they will need to do to extend the series.

“It’s no secret: you start doing the right things, you start getting rewarded for it and momentum builds,” Montreal captain Brian Gionta said, via ESPN.com. “You keep carrying that.

“A couple of teams have been able to do that this year, the Kings and the Rangers. So it’s not something that can’t be done and with the group we have in here, we believe we can do it. And we believe we’ve got better as the series goes on.”
