According to the Boston Globe, Remy faces a life sentence without parole for the brutal crime that his daughter, four year old Arianna, may have witnessed.
The tragedy of this murder not only lies in its end result, but in the fact that it was a predictable, preventable event.
Remy had a long history of violence and abuse toward women. Further, Jennifer Martel had charged Remy with threatening her the day before her murder. Police released Remy and he promptly went to her house and murdered her.
Beyond the timeline provided by the Boston Globe, there’s this piece that details Remy’s history with the Martel family.
As Martel’s mother notes, Remy quickly drove a wedge between Jennifer and her family. An abuser of prescription drugs and steroids, Remy would often berate Jennifer and her family as ‘trailer trash’ and refuse to allow her parents over.
Jennifer insisted on sticking it out until she’d had enough and filed a claim with the police.
That’s when Remy left and killed Jennifer, while their daughter Arianna was home.
