Joseph has spent his entire career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but was cut this offseason to save cap space and because he just wasn’t living up to the fat contract he had received in 2011. He was a Pro Bowler before then but since his new contract a rash of injuries and bad luck held Joseph down.
FOX Sports 1 insider Alex Marvez first reported the move and it’s one that seems to make sense for the Rams as it’s low risk and high reward.
If the Rams get the Joseph who was a Pro Bowl right guard, then they’re getting an absolute bargain but if he continues to struggle he may not end up making the final roster before the season starts.
Tampa Bay revamped their roster and Joseph was not a part of the new wave Tampa Bay is trying to create which isn’t the vote of confidence he needs. But the Rams being willing to take him on doesn’t hurt and proves that there may still be something left in the tank. It’s now up to Joseph to prove it with St. Louis as this may be one of the last chances he gets to show he’s still an elite or near elite NFL offensive lineman.
